Story Grace Miles

Our bug is finally here. We are so happy to finally have Story home. It took her a while to get here and the experience was certainly something else. It started Monday evening at 6pm, but the labor didn't get hard until Tuesday Morning at 9AM. We went to the hospital and got sent home 2 1/2 hours later because i wasn't progressing. So we bought some castor oil and went grocery shopping, which was a dumb idea on my part, we had to stop down each aisle for contractions to pass. So i downed the castor oil and was screaming an hour later. Poor Jerome had to watch me scream and didn't know what to do for me. We got to the hospital before midnight and my contractions were a minute apart, but i wasn't progressing still, so the wanted to send me home, but my dr just said to put in my epidural around 3am, after hours and hours of screaming in our hospital room we got the epidural. we had an awesome nurse for the night, couldn't have been better, very sweet girl. Hallelujah for the epidural!!!! it barely hurt going in and it was a miracle!! 4 contractions later i was almost fast asleep, because i was all numb. The doctor got there at 6am to break my water and get things started. well, it didn't do a whole lot. they thought i'd be pushing an hour after my water was broken, but we didn't get to a 10 until 1pm. i pushed really hard for 2 solid hours and her head was just not coming out. she was definitely jammed and getting stressed. so by 4pm they wheeled me in for an emergency c-section. i was beyond terrified!! apparently all the hormones and stuff make you shake out of control, i was shaking for hours and hours and i shook almost through the entire night and the procedure. after several minutes and lots and lots of drugs later i felt three very hard tugs and my little Story came out. She was really jammed, so it took a long time to pull her little head out. They had a hard time getting her to cry and breathe, but she escaped the nicu by a hair! Jerome watched them pull her out of me and got to see all my intestines and organs. He was pretty out of it, otherwise he might have passed out or thrown up or something. Several minutes later they got me all stitched up, but while they stitched i got to hold my little baby with Jerome's help. It was a very long 36 hours, but we made it and are recovering well.  I'm still pretty slow and on lots of pain pills, but we're doing okay. I lost too much blood, so we're on the watch, a transfusion might be in order later on if i don't get my count back up.

This is one very proud papa!! He is just wrapped around Story's little finger. He sits and stares at her for hours. i love it!! He is so happy when he sees her.

While they stitched me up Jerome got to watch her first bath. She hated it!!

Story was 8lbs 7oz and 20 inches tall. She was just too big for my hips. The doctor said i probably can't deliver bigger than 7lbs.

The next day while in recovery Jeff and Rainey had the joy of getting their beautiful Sydney out!! She was born a short 18 hours after Story bug. She was a whopping 9lbs 1oz! and an inch or two taller, but they are for sure BFF's already!!

We got to take her home today, all the newborn clothes we brought for her to take home in were huge, so we just did our best. :0)

He is in love, he can't get enough of her!

My favorite two people. She is just too cute for me, it breaks my heart how gorgeous she is!!

She is so adorable, seriously, and I am not just saying that. Let me know if I can do anything for you. I knew Jerome would be a great dad, because he is such a great guy to you. And I have always known you would be the best mom ever!

Congratulations Kassie! She is so beautiful. Sorry your labor was so tough - isn't it good to be done that part now?? I'm glad she's healthy and home with you now.
Do you have another email address other than your work one? If you do, will you email it to me? I imagine you'll be taking a few days off...

Hooray! Labor is so not fun, especially ridiculously long ones that end in c-sections! Looks like you did great though, and what a beautiful prize you got at the end of it all! She IS gorgeous!

I love the receipt that's taped to her in that one shot.

Looks like a lunch order from some deli somewhere.

She's a cute baby. And I don't say that often.

Okay, your story made me cry! I love it. And I am not just saying this, but Story is beautiful. Honestly, newborns are never very pretty, Lucy was only cute that first day because she was mine. But Story, she looks perfect!
And how is mommy doing now? I need an update! Are you home yet? Is she a good sleeper? Call me when you get a moment. I really do want to hear how you are your little growing family are doing! Congratulations to you and Jerome!

SOOOO fabulous! I'm so glad she's here, and you're on your road to recovery. I noticed that Sydney has a twinner outfit...the Old Navy pink birdie number? Syd's got one, too. Only it's green. With an owl. See? They will TOTALLY be best friends!

Hooray!!! I was wondering what the latest was with Miss Story. I'm so glad she's here safe and sound, and I'm super impressed with your labor ordeal. You are a CHAMP.

I think of the stories the dentist office would tell me about giving you filling and I can't imagine how labor was for you. It made me really sad to think about it. But I'm glad she's here. And the picture of her with the receipt on her makes me queezy because it looks like she's going to fall out onto the ground, because it's sideways.

Kass-honey, I'm so proud of you! She is absolutely breath-taking, and she's all yours :)

I haven't wanted to bother you in your much-needed non-working time-of-recovery and absolute-baby-enjoyment, but I hope you're doing well.

Can't WAIT to meet her. And I'll bet you're a skinny little thing these days! Best of luck and much sleep to all three of you... :)

Are you really busy or something? I mean, it's like you don't have time to post anymore for some reason!!! :b BTW how is the b-feeding going? Hope good.

Congratulations on the beautiful baby girl!!! You and Jerome look so happy to be parents. I'm slightly horrified by your labor story. But she was worth it...right? I love all the pink she's wearing. She really is pretty and I hope all is well.

YAY for babies! I am now slightly more terrified of giving birth, but I have a while to get used to the idea :) She is so cute!! And all that hair is awesome... I'm afraid my baby is just going to be bald...for a long time!

Congratulations!
